A Completely New Wing and Extreme Range

Although at first glance this machine closely resembles its older siblings from the Constellation family, from a technological standpoint it was a massive leap. Lockheed engineers designed a completely new, significantly longer and thinner wing for the Starliner, which could hold much more fuel. Thanks to this innovation, the aircraft gained a truly phenomenal range in the nineteen fifties and could connect the West Coast of the United States with Europe non-stop. It was the most perfect piston-engine airliner in history, though its stellar passenger career was soon cut short by the rapid dawn of the jet age.

The Golden Era with TWA and Lufthansa

You can enrich your collection with iconic machines flying in the colors of famous airlines that operated these long-haul giants.
