The Flying Disc from Brandis
The design of the AS-6, spearheaded by constructor and farmer Arthur Sack, defied all conventions of the time. The machine was characterized by its distinctive circular wing, which earned it the nickname "flying disc." Tests took place in 1944 at the Brandis airbase. Although the aircraft utilized components from famous machines like the Messerschmitt Bf 109, it faced massive aerodynamic problems and structural flaws. The project never demonstrated the capability of stable flight, and the prototype was likely destroyed during the Allied advance.
Specifics of Luft-X Resin Models
For producing models of such rarities and unfulfilled projects from the "Luftwaffe '46" era, the most suitable material is resin. This technology allows for capturing even the smallest details in limited production runs, where traditional die-cast metal molds would not make financial sense. The Sack AS-6 model in the 1:72 scale by the manufacturer Luft-X excels in the clean execution of its unusual lines and the historically faithful application of camouflage colors. It is supplied in an in-flight configuration without landing gear on a presentation stand, making it an unmissable element of any specialized aviation display.
