Radical Ramjet Concept

The design of the P.13a came from the mind of the innovative designer Alexander Lippisch. The aircraft featured a sharply swept delta wing shape and completely lacked conventional tail surfaces. However, the planned propulsion was entirely unique—the aircraft was to use a ramjet engine burning coal dust, a response to the critical shortage of aviation fuel in Germany at the time. The concept theoretically promised supersonic speeds, but the project only saw the construction of an unpowered glider for aerodynamic testing and was terminated with the end of the war.

Advantages of Luft-X Resin Models

To replicate the so-called "Luftwaffe '46" projects and rare prototypes, manufacturers most often choose resin. This material allows for exceptionally fine detailing even in smaller production runs, where traditional die-cast metal molds would not make economic sense. The Lippisch P.13a model in the 1:72 scale by the Luft-X brand is supplied on a presentation stand in an in-flight configuration. It impresses with a clean surface finish, thin trailing edges, and a historically plausible fictitious camouflage that gives it a highly authentic appearance.
