Ambitious Fighter Project
The Heinkel P.1078A design emerged at the turn of 1944 and 1945 as part of the Emergency Fighter Program (Jägernotprogramm), aimed at creating a superior jet aircraft for the defense of the Third Reich. The design featured an unconventional tailless layout and polyhedral swept wings. Propulsion was to be provided by a single powerful Heinkel HeS 011 turbojet engine, intended to push the aircraft to speeds approaching 1000 km/h. Due to the rapid advance of Allied forces and the surrender of Germany, the project never progressed beyond the initial study phase.
Collector's Value of Resin Models
To replicate the so-called "Luftwaffe '46" projects, manufacturers prefer using resin. This material allows for an exceptional level of detail even in smaller production runs, where traditional die-cast metal molds would be financially inefficient. Models in the 1:72 scale by Luft-X are supplied on a presentation stand in an in-flight configuration. They feature a clean surface finish, fine panel lines, and historically plausible camouflages that give the machine a highly authentic appearance, even though it never actually flew.
