A Twin-Boom Jet Pioneer
The Vampire first flew during World War II but did not see combat before the war ended. However, it left a massive mark in the post-war years. Thanks to its reliable Goblin engine and unique twin-boom configuration—which allowed for a shorter exhaust pipe to maximize thrust—it became a huge export success. It served in the air forces of dozens of countries worldwide and made history as the first jet aircraft to ever land on an aircraft carrier.
The Swedish Version by Herpa
In our selection, you will find an exclusive die-cast model from the premium manufacturer Herpa. Featured is the interesting export variant J 28B (FB.50), which served in the Swedish Royal Air Force (Svenska Flygvapnet). The 1:72 scale model perfectly captures the rounded aerodynamic shapes of the original aircraft, featuring precise panel lines and authentic Swedish three-crown insignias. The solid metal construction with plastic details creates the ideal combination for any discerning collector of post-war aviation.
