Historical context of the aircraft:
The Lockheed L-1649A Starliner was the very last link in the development series of the famous piston aircraft Constellation and Super Constellation. It was put into service in the late 1950s, just before the mass introduction of jet aircraft (Jet Age). TWA was one of the main initiators of its creation and operated it on prestigious long-haul transatlantic routes. The aircraft stood out with its enormous range thanks to a completely new, slender wing.
