The Somua S-35 tank stood out with its innovative design, which utilized large cast armor sections. This solution provided excellent ballistic protection without the need for rivets. The machine boasted solid mobility and a very effective 47mm gun, allowing it to easily compete with contemporary German tanks. However, like most French armored vehicles of that era, it suffered from the one-man turret concept, which severely overworked the tank commander during combat operations.
