Unique Design and Heavy Firepower
The P-39 featured an innovative design—the Allison engine was moved to the center of gravity behind the cockpit, allowing for the installation of a massive 37mm cannon directly in the nose. It was also one of the first fighters to use a tricycle landing gear. Although it saw limited success in the US Army Air Forces due to the lack of an efficient high-altitude supercharger, it found its perfect niche elsewhere.
Star of the Soviet Air Force
The Airacobra achieved its greatest fame under the Lend-Lease program in the Soviet Union. It excelled at low altitudes on the Eastern Front, and Soviet pilots, including many famous aces like Alexander Pokryshkin, highly valued its heavy armament and reliable radios. In our selection, you will find models depicting these famous Soviet aircraft with red stars, as well as attractive camouflages of the British RAF.
