A Revolution Powered by Jet Engines
The development of the Me-262 was delayed by numerous technical and political obstacles, but when it finally entered combat, it came as a shock to Allied airmen. Thanks to its twin Jumo 004 turbojet engines, it reached speeds of over 850 km/h, outclassing all piston-engine fighters of the time. Its devastating armament consisted of four 30mm cannons in the nose, capable of reliably shredding heavy bomber formations. Despite its technological superiority, the Me-262 arrived too late and in too few numbers to turn the tide of the air war.
Collector's Value and Captured Machines
For military history fans, Me-262 models offer immense variety. In our category, you will find not only classic Luftwaffe machines, including the famous JV 44 unit commanded by Adolf Galland (die-cast metal model by Oxford), but also highly sought-after captured versions. You can thus enrich your collection with machines tested after the war by the British RAF or the American USAAF (plastic models by Easy Model). The 1:72 scale models feature accurate proportions of the swept wing, fine panel lines, and authentic historical camouflages.
