The Fast Eyes of the Allied Army
The M8 Greyhound armored car was designed for fast and stealthy reconnaissance. Thanks to its six-wheel chassis, it reached high speeds on paved roads, although it sometimes struggled in heavy terrain. It was equipped with a rotating turret housing a 37mm gun, which was sufficient for defense against light armor but not for engaging enemy tanks. The M20 command and utility version was subsequently derived from this machine, lacking a turret and instead featuring an open-topped fighting compartment protected by a mounted heavy machine gun. This modification provided more space for the crew, maps, and radios.
