A More Perfected Flying Tank
The development of the Il-10 responded to the need for a faster and more agile attack aircraft that could better evade fighters and more efficiently destroy ground targets. Thanks to a completely redesigned all-metal airframe, a more powerful engine, and better integration of armor into the structure, the Il-10 became a much more dangerous machine. Although it only saw combat at the very end of WWII, it fully proved itself during the Korean War, where it formed the backbone of the communist forces' strike aviation.
