Heinkel Wespe
The Heinkel Wespe project represents one of the boldest visions of the German aviation industry from the end of World War II. This experimental vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) fighter aircraft never reached production, yet it continues to fascinate military history enthusiasts. In our selection, you will find precisely crafted models of this unbuilt machine. We focus on highly detailed resin models in the popular 1:72 scale, primarily produced by the specialized brand Luft-X.

Revolutionary Vertical Take-Off Concept
The Heinkel Wespe (Wasp) design emerged as a radical solution for defending strategic targets at a time when German airfields were under constant pressure from Allied bombing. The aircraft was intended to take off and land vertically. Propulsion was to be provided by a turboprop engine located inside an annular wing, a concept that was decades ahead of its time. However, due to technological complexity and the approaching end of the war, the project never progressed beyond the design study and blueprint phase.
Specifics of Luft-X Resin Models
To replicate rare prototypes and so-called "Luftwaffe '46" projects, manufacturers prefer using resin. This material allows for an exceptional level of detail even in smaller production runs, where traditional die-cast metal molds would be financially inefficient. The Heinkel Wespe models in the 1:72 scale by Luft-X stand out for their clean craftsmanship and historically plausible theoretical camouflage. They are supplied on a presentation stand in an in-flight configuration, making them an attractive and unconventional addition to any military aviation collection.
