    The Heavyweight Workhorse "Thud"

    The F-105 was originally designed for high-speed, low-altitude tactical nuclear delivery. However, it became most famous for conventional bombing during the Vietnam War. Despite being a single-engine aircraft, it could carry a larger bomb load than a heavy four-engine World War II bomber. The two-seat F/G versions gained immense fame flying extremely dangerous "Wild Weasel" missions aimed at suppressing enemy air defenses.
