Tail Engines and Integrated Airstairs
This aircraft was designed specifically to serve smaller airports with minimal technical infrastructure. A characteristic visual feature are the two jet engines mounted on the rear and the T-shaped tail surfaces, which ensured an aerodynamically clean wing for the aircraft. From a technological standpoint, airlines fell in love with the machine for its enormous independence. It was equipped as standard with an auxiliary power unit (APU) and its own integrated folding airstairs – both at the front under the door and directly under the tail, meaning the aircraft needed no external assistance when passengers were boarding.
