Tricycle Landing Gear and a Level Deck

This machine brought a fundamental technological innovation to the world of commercial aviation. Unlike its famous predecessor, the DC-3, it no longer featured a tailwheel but a modern tricycle landing gear with a nose wheel. Thanks to this innovative solution, the aircraft stood completely level on the ground. Passengers no longer had to climb uphill when boarding, and the cabin crew along with baggage handlers had a much easier job. Although the machine was originally designed for commercial routes, due to the outbreak of war, the entire initial production was requisitioned by the military, and the aircraft became famous as a reliable military transporter.
