A Heavy-Duty Steel Fortress
The development of the Char B1 tank began in the nineteen twenties with the aim of creating a heavy breakthrough machine for infantry support. Its characteristic feature was its dual armament, consisting of a 75mm howitzer located in the right front part of the hull and a smaller 47mm anti-tank gun in a fully rotating turret. Thanks to its massive armor, this colossus was practically immune to most standard German anti-tank weapons in 1940 and presented an immensely difficult obstacle for attacking Wehrmacht units.
