Boeing 707 The Boeing 707 was a breakthrough four-engine jet airliner developed by Boeing in the 1950s. It was the first aircraft suitable for transporting larger numbers of passengers over long distances using jet engines. The Boeing 707 had a capacity of up to 189 passengers and was equipped with four Pratt & Whitney JT3C jet engines. It was the first aircraft to enable regular direct flights between Europe and North America, significantly improving the speed and comfort of air travel. The Boeing 707 was launched on the market in 1958 and immediately became a huge hit. It was the best-selling jet airliner of its time and was widely used for passenger travel as well as cargo transport.
