Vought F4U Corsair The Vought F4U Corsair was an American fighter aircraft with a characteristic wing shape, powered by a radial engine and armed with six machine guns or four cannons. It was used during World War II in the Pacific and earned a reputation as one of the best fighter aircraft of that era. In 1945, it set a speed record for piston-engine aircraft. Today, more than 50 specimens exist, some of which are still airworthy.
