Mitsubishi G4M1 Betty
Mitsubishi G4M1 Betty was a heavy bomber used by the Imperial Japanese Air Force during World War II. The aircraft was developed in 1939 and was intended for long-range attacks and maritime patrol. The Mitsubishi G4M1 was powered by two Mitsubishi Kasei engines and reached speeds of up to 428 km/h. Armament consisted of one 7.7 mm machine gun and one 20 mm machine gun, which were located in additional gun turrets. The aircraft was also equipped with a bomb load of up to 800 kg. The Mitsubishi G4M1 was used during the Pacific War and was deployed in the attacks on Pearl Harbor and Guadalcanal. The aircraft was very fast and had a long range, which allowed it to attack targets up to 5,000 km away. However, the Betty also had its shortcomings. The aircraft had weak armor protection, which made it very vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire. It also had a tendency to explode and many Bettys were destroyed during the war. A total of about 2,435 Mitsubishi G4M1 Bettys were produced in various versions.
