This aircraft is very well known in the Czech Republic, because it served in our army for a long time. This aircraft was developed in the Mikoyan and Gurevich office in the Soviet Union. In the NATO code it had the nickname Fishbed. The aircraft was put into service in 1959 and at that time had everything the Soviet Union needed. Small, fast, reliable and, most importantly, simple for mass production. According to sources, up to 13,000 of all different variants were produced in the Soviet Union and in other friendly countries produced under license.
