The A-4 Skyhawk is an American combat aircraft that was in service from 1956 to 2003. The aircraft was developed in the 1950s for the United States Air Force and was also used in other countries. Its main advantages were its high speed and maneuverability, which allowed it to effectively attack ground targets. The A-4 Skyhawk was used during Vietnam and its potential was again exploited during the Falklands War in 1982. The aircraft was later replaced by more modern machines, but several are still used for various purposes including training and reconnaissance. The aircraft was designed and developed by the Douglas Aircraft Company and more than 2,960 have been produced.
