The Tatra 148S is a truck manufactured by the Czech car manufacturer Tatra, which was produced between 1972 and 1982. It was a modernized version of the previous Tatra 138 model, which was primarily improved in terms of safety, comfort, and reliability. The Tatra 148S was equipped with an air-cooled, six-cylinder engine with an output of 180 horsepower, which allowed a maximum speed of 75 km/h. The chassis design was based on Tatra's unique system, which enabled high off-road capability and excellent driving characteristics. The car was primarily intended for freight transport, but special versions were also produced for fire and rescue services, the army, and other fields. The Tatra 148S was very popular both in Czechoslovakia and abroad, and was exported to many countries, such as Germany, Austria, Poland, and Yugoslavia. Today, the Tatra 148S has become a cult car among vintage car collectors and lovers of historic automobiles.
