Sikorsky UH-34D
The Sikorsky UH-34D Seahorse was a military helicopter used mainly by the US Armed Forces and Navy between 1954 and 1970. It was a multi-purpose helicopter designed for transporting troops, material and equipment. The UH-34D Seahorse was powered by a Wright R-1820-84 Cyclone engine with 1,425 horsepower and could carry up to 16 passengers. The helicopter's armament varied depending on the mission chosen, but usually included a mortar or machine guns. The UH-34D Seahorse was used primarily during the Vietnam War, where it was deployed to rescue wounded soldiers and in air attacks on enemy positions. The helicopter was also used in other conflicts, including the Korean War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Currently, the Sikorsky UH-34D Seahorse is out of production and out of service.
