The Messerschmitt Bf-109 was a German fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the mid-1930s. It had a maximum speed of over 600 km/h, was equipped with two 7.92 mm machine guns and one 20 mm cannon and was the most produced fighter aircraft in history with more than 33,000 units produced. The Bf-109 played a key role in the Battle of Britain and was flown by German aces during World War II. Although successful, it was notorious for being difficult to control.
