Ilyushin Il-18
The Ilyushin Il-18 is a four-engine turboprop aircraft with a capacity of up to 120 passengers developed by the Soviet design bureau Ilyushin in the mid-1950s. It is the first Soviet civilian aircraft equipped with turboprop engines. The Il-18 was originally designed to transport passengers on short and medium routes, but was later modified for long flights across the oceans. The aircraft was equipped with four high-power Ivchenko AI-20 turboprop engines and had sufficient performance for long-distance flights. The Il-18 was very popular in the Soviet Union and other Warsaw Pact countries, but was also exported to other countries. The aircraft was used for both civilian and military purposes, including the transport of troops and material. Currently, all civilian Il-18 aircraft are no longer in service, but some military versions still serve in some countries as transport and reconnaissance aircraft.
