The F-86 Sabre was an American fighter aircraft designed in 1947 as a response to the advent of Soviet jet aircraft. It was the first American aircraft with a "flying wing" wing and was armed with six machine guns. It was used in combat operations around the world, including the Korean War and the Suez Crisis. It was capable of reaching speeds in excess of Mach 1 and was developed in several versions, including reconnaissance and training variants.
