The F-14 Tomcat was a carrier fighter aircraft manufactured by Grumman for the US Navy. It was armed with a six-barrel cannon and various types of rockets and guided missiles. It was powered by two afterburning turboprop engines and had a top speed of Mach 2.34. The F-14 Tomcat was made famous by the film Top Gun and was used in several conflicts. It was equipped with advanced long-range radar and some aircraft were modernized. A total of 712 were produced and served in the US Navy from 1974 to 2006.
