Dassault Mirage
Dassault Mirage is a family of French fighter aircraft manufactured by Dassault Aviation. The first Mirage III aircraft first flew in 1956 and was one of the first aircraft in the world capable of exceeding the speed of sound in horizontal flight. Several Mirage variants followed, including the Mirage 5, Mirage F1 and Mirage 2000. Mirage aircraft were produced not only for the French armed forces, but also for many other countries. They have been used in many conflicts, including the Yom Kippur War, the Gulf War and the Kosovo War. The Mirage III and its variants were used by the Argentine Air Force, among others, during the Falklands War in 1982. The Mirage was designed as a fighter aircraft, but later variants were also equipped with the ability to attack ground targets. For example, the Mirage 2000 was equipped with precision bombs and cruise missiles.
