BAe Harrier
The BAe Harrier (also known as the Hawker Siddeley Harrier) is a British single-engine fighter aircraft with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). It was developed in the 1960s and is one of the most famous aircraft with VTOL capabilities. The Harrier was originally designed as an attack aircraft for the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom and saw service in several conflicts, including the Falklands War and the Gulf War. The aircraft had vertical take-off and landing capabilities, allowing it to operate from small, unpaved and improvised landing sites. The Harrier was powered by a single turbojet engine and could reach speeds of up to 1,050 km/h. It was armed with a cannon and various types of missiles and bombs. It had modern avionics, including radar and tracking and control systems. Several versions of the Harrier have been produced over the years, including a pilot training version, a naval version and a foreign export version. The Harrier has become a popular aircraft with many air forces and has also been produced under license in several countries, including Spain, India and Thailand. Production of the Harrier ended in 2010, but the aircraft is still in service with several countries and is considered a classic among fighter aircraft.
