The North American XB-70 Valkyrie was an experimental supersonic bomber from the 1960s, designed for speeds over Mach 3 and high flight altitude. It was supposed to be able to penetrate Soviet air defenses, but due to the rapid development of missiles and new aircraft, the program was cancelled. Only two prototypes were produced, one of which was destroyed in an accident in 1966.
