About Messerschmitt Me 262:
This aircraft is the first combat deployed jet machine. It flew as early as 18 April 1941. From the beginning it was designed as a fighter to gain air superiority. Adolf Hitler's personal intervention, however, forced the designers to design the aircraft as a so-called lightning bomber. This decision delayed successful deployment by at least two years. Until the end of the war, however, it was by far the best fighter, which was able to surpass the American Mustangs in speed by 200 km / h. The main failure of this aircraft lies on the shoulders of the German Air Ministry, which did not correctly estimate the original vision of the aircraft.
