The Heinkel He-111 was a German heavy bomber and reconnaissance aircraft produced during World War II. Originally conceived as a civilian transport aircraft, it was later adapted for military use with twin-engine propulsion, a number of machine guns and bombs. It was involved in many key battles and became the first aircraft to raid London during World War II. Nearly 6,000 Heinkel He-111s were produced during the war and served until the end of the war. After the war it was used as a transport aircraft, but its military career ended.
