Tram KT4 is a single four-axle motor system of two cars connected by a joint. It was first used in Germany, where it can navigate narrow streets in historic centres, due to the design lacking a centre chassis. The KT4 has four folding doors, two in each car. This type of tram can be fitted with bogies for both normal gauge 1435 mm and smaller gauge 1000 mm and 1067 mm respectively. The car was tested in Prague, then in Liberec in the years. The tram also ran in the former USSR, where they were still in service in 1998.
