The F-117 Nighthawk is a low-detection attack aircraft, created in the 70s and 80s by the Skunk Works division of Lockheed Martin. It first saw service in the 1991 Gulf War, where it proved effective in attacking targets in Iraq. It was retired in 2008 and replaced by newer aircraft. The F-117 was highly classified and was denied by the US government until 1988.
