Dassault Rafale
The Dassault Rafale is a French multi-role combat aircraft, which was developed by Dassault Aviation. The aircraft was first introduced in 1986, entered service in the French Air Force in 2004 and is currently also used in the Navy and in many other countries. The Rafale is designed as a multi-role aircraft with high survivability that can be deployed in a variety of roles, including air combat, reconnaissance, strategic bombing, anti-surface operations and anti-submarine warfare. The aircraft is capable of carrying a wide range of weapons, including air-to-air missiles, air-to-surface missiles, laser-guided bombs and nuclear weapons. The Rafale is powered by two Snecma M88-2 spray-engines, each with a thrust of 7.5 tons. This allows it to reach a maximum speed of over Mach 1.8 and is capable of performing aerobatic maneuvers with high overload. The Rafale is currently in service with the French Air Force and Navy, as well as the air forces of several other countries, including India and Egypt. The aircraft has been used in several conflicts, including NATO operations in Kosovo, the fighting in Afghanistan and against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
