The Terror of Enemy Convoys
The Beaufort entered service just before the start of World War II and immediately engaged in demanding over-sea operations. Its main tasks were laying naval mines and conducting dangerous torpedo attacks on enemy shipping. The crews of these aircraft often operated in extreme weather conditions and under heavy anti-aircraft fire from ships. Although the Beaufort was relatively vulnerable to modern fighters, it did a massive amount of hard work for the British Empire, especially in the Mediterranean and the Pacific.
Compact Pieces for Any Display Case
For collectors who are short on space, 1:144 scale models are an absolutely ideal choice. In this category, you will find pieces from Atlas Models and De Agostini that, despite their smaller size, surprise with their level of detail. The models faithfully capture the specific "boxy" nose of the aircraft, the cabin glazing, and unmistakable British camouflages. Thanks to their solid metal base, they also have a nice weight to them and will certainly not get lost in any historical bomber collection.
